The city
Tampere is the largest inland centre in Scandinavia, famous for its high-technology industry. The city can boast to be the cradle of mobile phone development. The companies in the field of bioengineering, nanotechnology, energy technology, ubiquitous computing, intelligent machines, as well as health and well-being are active and forerunners worldwide.
Tampere offers lots of recreation activities for students: from sports fields to indoor swimming pools, rambling routes and international short film festivals. Not forgetting theatre, a lively music scene of all genres plus a variety of other activities. And not to worry – nearly everyone in Tampere is more or less fluent in English, too.
