Master's Programme in Space Science and Technology

The objective of the Joint European Master in Space Science and Technology is to combine the expertise of six European universities within the field of space technology and related applications. The universities are: Luleå University of Technology (LTU) in Sweden, Cranfield University (CU) in UK, Czech Univesity of Technology (CTU), Julius-Maximilian Universität Würzburg (JMUW) in Germany, Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse III (UPS) in France and TKK. SpaceMaster is a two-year program of full-time studies.
During the two years students obtain cross-disciplinary experience from laboratory exercises, and from carrying out computer simulations such as balloons, rockets, satellite and radar controls, tele-robotics, sensor data fusion, automatic controls and multi-body dynamics.
The first year of studies is same for all students, starting at JMUW, Germany and proceeding for the second semester in Sweden at LTU Kiruna campus, the centre of international space and environment science.
The second year of SpaceMaster is devided into five engineering and three scientific tracks following the competence of the partner universities in six different European countries. The programme leads to two officially recognised M.Sc. degrees issued by the home and one partner university. SpaceMaster is Erasmus Mundus Programme selected by the European Commission. At TKK, the programme is offered by the Department of Automation and Systems Technology.
