The city
The city of Trento, Capital of Trentino, is set in the northern part of Italy, not far from the Dolomites and the numerous lakes that can be found near by. Trento is a city of art that has a strong Renaissance mark, which characterises it for its colours, its buildings and make it unique in the entire Alpine arc.
The city of Trento has been for many centuries a bridge between the Mediterranean area and the German culture world and it still maintains its peculiar role of buffer region between these two cultures and traditions, which are at the same time so different and so integrated to each other.
Social activities
The cultural and social life is enriched by many conferences, meetings, exhibitions, traditional costume festivals, typical markets, historical events, international festivals, theatrical, musical and dancing sessions. These events usually take place both in theatres and in the city centre. Thanks to its wide range of cultural offers, the city of Trento is considered an active centre, keeping a strong bond with traditions at the same time. Trento also offers a wide range of activities, excursions and the chance to practice many sports. Not only; one can also visit Trentino castles, archaeological sites, sanctuaries and the wonderful lakes of the Dolomites.
Accomodations
The residential services (housing and university cafeterias) as well as other services to support academic and university life (scholarships, psychological advice, assistance for the disabled, cultural and recreational activities) are offered by the University Guild which has housing in 1500 flats and recently built dormitories for enrolled students with a much lower rent than current market prices (from 215 euro to 255 euro a month). All dormitories are located in area convenient to the various Faculties and facilities and can be reached on foot or by public transportation. The Welcome Office supports in all the aspects related with their arrival and stay in Trento those international guests who are coming to Trento for study reasons and mobility.
Student_union
The University of Trento favours and supports cultural activities promoted by student associations, making space available within the University and granting financing for specific projects. The University currently has 13 student associations. The University of Trento is also member of Almalaurea, a service run by a consortium of Italian universities - with the support of the Ministry for University and Research - that aims at creating a relationship between graduates and companies.
